EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures a significant moment in scientific history, showcasing the collaboration between Jean Noel Halle and Alexander von Humboldt in Paris, 1798. The duo can be seen engrossed in their groundbreaking experiments on frogs, inspired by Galvani's discoveries. Remarkably, Humboldt conducted over 3000 animal experiments, which sparked immense interest in Paris and led to the establishment of the Commission du galvanisme under Halle's leadership. Humboldt, a renowned German naturalist and explorer, continued Galvani's pioneering work by delving into clinical and kinesiological electromyography. His contributions to this field were instrumental in shaping our understanding of animal electricity. Meanwhile, Halle served as Napoleon Bonaparte's doctor and held esteemed positions as a Professor of Physical Medicine and Health in Paris.
