Odeum of Pericles. Artwork depicting the Odeum of Pericles, an ancient Greek theatre. This, the first roofed theatre, was built in Athens, Greece, in the 5th century B.C. It is seen in cross- section at top and in plan at lower left. The illustration is from the book Roofed Theaters of Classical Antiquity. The Odeum of Pericles is one of 30 historical European theatres being reconstr- ucted as three-dimensional virtual reality computer models by the THEATRON project.
