EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the iconic Mauser C96 7.63 mm pistol, a weapon that played a significant role in history. Produced in 1898 by the German School, this powerful semi-automatic pistol holds great historical value. The image transports us back to the famous charge at Omdurman on September 2,1898, during the intense Second Sudan War. It was here that several British officers carried this very type of German pistol into battle. Among them was Lieutenant Winston Churchill himself, who had purchased his own Mauser C96 in London before embarking on his African journey. What made this firearm so sought after by these brave soldiers? Its formidable power and unique capabilities set it apart from other weapons of its time. With an impressive capacity to fire ten shots before needing reloading - four more than the standard revolver used by the British Army - it provided a distinct advantage on the battlefield. Furthermore, its box magazine design and wooden holster doubling as a shoulder stock added both functionality and style to this remarkable piece of weaponry. This stunning print serves as a testament to not only the craftsmanship of German engineering but also to its impact on pivotal moments throughout history.
