Space dogs. Soviet researcher checking the space dogs Damka (meaning " little lady" ) and Kozyavka (" beauty", on right) in their space capsule. The dogs were to be sent into space aboard a Korabl Sputnik (" spaceship satellite" ) on 22 December 1960. However the boosters upper rocket stage failed, forcing the flight to be abandoned.
