Soyuz-19 crew. Soviet cosmonauts Alexei Leonov (born 1934) and Valeri Kubasov (born 1935) onboard the Soyuz-19 spacecraft. Soyuz-19 was launched on 15th July 1975 as part of a joint project between the USA and the USSR - the Apollo-Soyuz Test project (ASTP). It successfully docked with the American Apollo 18 spacecraft in orbit on 17th July 1975. The programme was intended to test a jointly-designed international docking mechanism. The US crew consisted of Thomas P. Stafford, Vance D. Brand and Donald K. Slayton
