Cretaceous dinosaurs
Cretaceous dinosaurs. Artwork of two types of dinosaur that lived during the Cretaceous period (around 70-65 million years ago). Three Triceratops horridus are seen. These large herbivores reached up to 9 metres in length and weighed more than 6000 kilograms. The 3 horns on the head were probably used in pushing contests and for defence against predator attack. The frill (red) protected the neck. Also seen is Ornithomimus (red and yellow, lower right), a bird-like dinosaur similar to the ostrich. This omnivore is thought to have been able to run at speeds of over 50 kilometres per hour

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the magnificent creatures that roamed the Earth during the Cretaceous period, approximately 70-65 million years ago. The artwork beautifully captures two distinct types of dinosaurs in a confrontational stance. In the foreground, we witness three Triceratops horridus, colossal herbivores measuring up to an astounding 9 meters in length and weighing over 6000 kilograms. These gentle giants possessed three formidable horns on their heads, likely utilized for pushing contests and defending against predator attacks. Their vibrant frills, depicted in red hues, served as a protective shield for their necks. Sharing this prehistoric scene is Ornithomimus, portrayed with striking red and yellow tones at the lower right corner of the image. Resembling modern-day ostriches, this omnivorous dinosaur was believed to possess remarkable speed capabilities exceeding 50 kilometers per hour. The illustration not only highlights these awe-inspiring reptiles but also emphasizes their aggressive nature through its artistry. It provides us with a glimpse into an era long gone by – where horned giants ruled the land and bird-like creatures thrived alongside them. This mesmerizing depiction serves as a testament to our fascination with paleontology and allows us to marvel at these extinct species' grandeur while igniting our curiosity about life's ancient mysteries.
