Mounted Prints from Science Photo Library
Allosaurus dinosaur
Allosaurus dinosaur, artwork. Allosaurus was a large carnivorous dinosaur that was found throughout much of the world between 154 and 135 million years ago, during the late Jurassic period. It was the largest carnivore at this time, reaching a length of up to 12 metres and weighing around four tonnes. It is thought that Allosaurus hunted large herbivores such as Iguanodon, and may even have hunted in packs to attack giant sauropod dinosaurs such as Diplodocus. Fossils of Allosaurus have been found from tropical to polar regions

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the mighty Allosaurus dinosaur, a fearsome creature that roamed the Earth millions of years ago. With its powerful build and sharp teeth, this carnivorous predator was a force to be reckoned with during the late Jurassic period. Measuring up to an impressive 12 meters in length and weighing around four tonnes, Allosaurus held the title of being the largest carnivore of its time. Its immense size allowed it to take down large herbivores like Iguanodon, and there is even speculation that it may have hunted in packs to bring down giant sauropod dinosaurs such as Diplodocus. Fossils of Allosaurus have been discovered across various regions ranging from tropical climates to polar environments. This suggests that these formidable creatures were adaptable hunters capable of surviving in different habitats. The artwork beautifully captures the essence of this prehistoric reptile, showcasing its menacing presence and highlighting its significance in paleontological studies. The intricate details within this illustration allow us to appreciate both the scientific accuracy and artistic interpretation behind recreating these ancient creatures. Science Photo Library has once again provided us with a remarkable visual representation of our planet's past inhabitants through their stunning collection.
