The poster is promoting St Andrews as the home of the royal and ancient game of golf, and shows two golfers with caddies. West Sands is visible in the background. Artwork by Arthur C Michael, a painter and etcher who worked mainly in watercolour or bodycolour. In addition to designing posters for LNER, he also illustrated books and periodicals.
