This vintage photograph captures a USAF Cessna U-3A with the serial number 58-2161 (msn 28135), also known as "Blue Canoe," during its service years in the United States Air Force. Originally built as a Cessna L-27A-CE in the 1960s, this aircraft was later re-designated as a U-3A in 1962. After its military career, 58-2161 was disposed of to Gateway Technical College located at Janesville-Rock County Airport in Janesville, Wisconsin. The registration number N1395K was assigned to the aircraft on March 27, 1982, but it was not taken up and was eventually cancelled on April 15, 2011. This aeronautical model, with its distinctive blue paint scheme, is a reminder of the rich history of military aviation. The U-3A, a versatile transport aircraft, played a crucial role in various missions during the 1960s and 1970s. This photograph offers a glimpse into the past, showcasing the grace and power of this flying machine as it soared through the skies.
