EDITORS COMMENTS
This stunning photograph captures the momentous occasion of the coronation of King George V and Queen Mary of the United Kingdom, which took place on June 22, 1911. King George V, the fifth monarch of that name, is depicted in his regal attire, wearing the Imperial State Crown adorned with precious stones and ermine fur. His queen, Mary of Teck, looks radiant in her intricately designed gown and the diamond and pearl-encrusted Crown of Mary. The couple's coronation marked the beginning of their 25-year reign, during which they faced numerous challenges, including the First World War. The ceremony took place at Westminster Abbey in London and was attended by thousands of guests, including foreign monarchs and dignitaries. The grandeur of the event is evident in the ornate regalia, the magnificent setting, and the solemn expressions of the newly crowned monarchs. This photograph is a testament to the rich history and tradition of the British monarchy and offers a glimpse into the opulence and grandeur of a bygone era.
