This Pochoir print, created in 1913, transports us back in time to the thrilling world of early motor racing. The image depicts the ACF Grand Prix, a prestigious automobile race held in France during the 1910s. The focus of this print is on the cycle cars, a popular class of lightweight, affordable vehicles that were favored by many racers at the time. The central figure of the composition is a cycle car, its sleek body gliding effortlessly along the winding road. The driver, clad in goggles and a leather helmet, is fully concentrated on the race, his hands gripping the wheel with determination. The background is filled with the chaos and excitement of the race, with other cycle cars and automobiles weaving in and out of the frame, leaving trails of dust and debris in their wake. The print is a stunning example of the Pochoir technique, a form of stencil printing that was popular in France during the early 20th century.
