EDITORS COMMENTS
In this photograph from the 1930s, Hon. Dorothy Wyndham Paget (1905-1960) is seen in the company of her champion racehorse, Golden Miller (1927-1957). The image exudes an aura of elegance and sophistication, as Dorothy, dressed in a fur-collared coat and wearing a stylish hat, gazes intently at her beloved horse. Golden Miller, adorned with a blanket and bridle, stands proudly beside her, his muscular form and regal demeanor reflecting the strength and power that made him a champion in the world of horse racing. Hon. Dorothy Wyndham Paget was a prominent figure in British society during the 1930s. She was not only an accomplished horse owner but also a successful businesswoman and philanthropist. Her passion for horses began at a young age, and she went on to become one of the most successful racehorse owners in history, with Golden Miller being one of her most famous and successful mounts. Golden Miller was a chestnut Thoroughbred racehorse who won the English Triple Crown in 1934, consisting of the 2,000 Guineas Stakes, the Derby, and the St Leger Stakes. He was the first Triple Crown winner for Dorothy and remains one of the most celebrated horses in the history of horseracing. This photograph captures a moment in time when Dorothy and Golden Miller were at the height of their success, their bond and shared achievements a testament to the enduring connection between humans and horses. The image is a beautiful reminder of the rich history of horseracing and the people who have dedicated their lives to this noble sport.
