EDITORS COMMENTS
This striking photograph captures an impressive moment from the Delhi Durbar of 1912, a grand ceremonial event held in Delhi to mark the coronation of King-Emperor George V and Queen Mary as the Emperor and Empress of India. In the foreground, we see His Highness the Nawab of Bahawalpur, a prominent prince of India, leading his camel corps during the military review. The young prince, dressed in traditional attire, rides confidently at the head of his troops, who follow in perfect formation, their camels adorned with ornate trappings. The King-Emperor, seated on his horse and wearing his full regalia, returns the Nawab's salute with a nod and a raised hand. The atmosphere is filled with a sense of grandeur and tradition, as the British monarch and the Indian princes come together in a display of unity and allegiance. The Delhi Durbar was a significant event in the history of the British Raj, and this photograph offers a unique glimpse into the pageantry and spectacle of that era.
