Once a beloved midfielder for the Gunners, Hleb's tenure at the Emirates Stadium was a brief but memorable one. Born in Belarus in 1981, Hleb began his professional career with BATE Borisov before moving to Stuttgart in Germany in 2001. His impressive performances in the Bundesliga caught the attention of Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, who signed him in the summer of 2005 for a reported fee of £15 million. Hleb quickly became a fan favorite with his skillful ball control, vision, and ability to create scoring opportunities. He formed a formidable partnership with Cesc Fabregas and Robert Pires in midfield, helping Arsenal to a second-place finish in the Premier League during the 2005-06 season.
