The Royal Lincolnshire Regiment, also known as the "Soldiers of the Shire," had a long and proud history, tracing its origins back to the English Civil War. The photograph was taken at the end of the Malayan Emergency, which lasted from 1948 to 1960, a period marked by guerrilla warfare against the British colonial rule.
