This photograph captures a historic moment in the evolution of the London Fire Brigade (LFB) with the depiction of GLC-LFB's Dual Purpose Pump-Escape fire engine from Chiswick fire station (D25). The image was taken on April 1, 1965, during a series of commissioned photos documenting each type of fire engine that was either within or absorbed into the enlarged London Fire Brigade. The pump-escape engine depicted here is a former Middlesex Fire Brigade appliance, specifically an AEC/Merryweather diesel engine.
