This print showcases the intricately carved Lamasu, or Bull-man, from the Gate of Sargon II's Palace in Dur-Sharrukin (modern-day Khorsabad), Assyria. Dating back to the 8th century BC, this alabaster relief is a testament to the rich artistic heritage of the ancient Assyrian civilization. Lamasu, also known as Shedu, was a protective deity in Assyrian mythology, depicted as a muscular, winged bull with the head of a human or a god.
