This stunning detail from the False Door of Senenmut, an ancient Egyptian architect and official of the 18th Dynasty, showcases the intricately carved Eye of Horus. Senenmut, a trusted advisor and possible lover of Queen Hatshepsut, held significant power during the New Kingdom of Egypt (1550-1077 BC). The False Door, now housed in the Neues Museum in Berlin, Germany, was originally placed in Senenmut's grave to serve as a protective barrier between the living world and the afterlife.
