Tales of balloon flight. This unmanned balloon, Le Globe was launched by Jacques Charles and the Robert brothers on the Champ de Mars, Paris, on 27th August 1783, landing in Gonnesse after a forty-five minute flight, where it terrified local peasants who destroyed the balloon.
