Arc de Triomphe, Paris, late 19th century. One of the Parisian triumphal arches designed in Neoclassical style to recall the monumental architecture of Ancient Rome, the Arc de Triomphe was commissioned by Napoleon in 1806 to commemorate his victory at the Battle of Austerlitz.
