46 Seconds at Rush Hour

Decide to go up to NYC for the day from DC because the weather forecast was partly cloudy and I wanted to get the Flatiron Building with 10 stop ND. I used a Lee.9 hard stop graduated filter for total 13 stops for the sky. Taken at 3pm on a busy Friday rush hour NYC. This is the 46 second version with the wind gust swirling at the time

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this print titled "46 Seconds at Rush Hour". Kevin Voelker captures the bustling energy of New York City during a busy Friday rush hour. The decision to travel from Washington D. C. to NYC was prompted by a partly cloudy weather forecast, with the intention of capturing the iconic Flatiron Building using a 10 stop ND filter. To enhance the dramatic effect of the sky, Voelker employed a Lee . 9 hard stop graduated filter, resulting in an impressive total of 13 stops for the sky. Taken at 3pm, when commuters were rushing through crowded streets and traffic filled every corner, this particular shot encapsulates not only the architectural beauty but also showcases nature's influence on urban life. As wind gusts swirled around him during those intense 46 seconds, Voelker managed to freeze-frame this dynamic moment in time. Through his lens, viewers are transported into a world where time seems suspended amidst chaos and movement. This photograph is a testament to Voelker's keen eye for detail and his ability to capture fleeting moments that tell stories beyond what meets the eye. "46 Seconds at Rush Hour" is an exquisite addition to any art collection or space seeking to evoke both awe and contemplation about our relationship with cities and their ever-changing atmospheres.
