Tenerife, satellite image. Satellite image of Tenerife showing Mount Teide (lower centre). Vegetation is green, and water is blue. Tenerife is the largest of the Canary Islands, a Spanish archipelago situated in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of north Africa. Mount Teide is an active volcano and is the highest mountain in the Canary Islands and Spain. Mount Teide and is surroundings make up the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Teide National Park.

Shadbolt recorded this image as 'Photograph of Paris Exhibition with Eiffel Tower taken from captive balloon', dated to the final day of the Exposition Universelle - 6 November 1889. The Eiffel Tower had been completed in March 1889 as the centrepiece of the Exposition. From the Cecil Victor Shadbolt collection of lantern slides dating from 1882-1892.
