In the enchanting forest habitat of Hallerbos, Belgium, a Fire salamander (Salamandra salamandra) gracefully roams. Its vibrant colors stand out against the lush greenery, creating a mesmerizing sight in May. A female Fire salamander is captured in a moment of anticipation as she prepares to give birth. Her swollen belly hints at the new life that will soon emerge into the world. Moving to Plitvice Lakes National Park in Croatia, we encounter another European salamander (Salamandra salamandra). This magnificent creature showcases its unique markings amidst the breathtaking scenery. Traveling to Lombardy, Italy, we find yet another Fire salamander. It proudly displays its striking black and yellow patterns against a backdrop of moss-covered rocks and fallen leaves. The delicate balance of nature is revealed as a Fire salamander coexists with a critically endangered great crested newt (Triturus cristatus). These two remarkable species share their space harmoniously while reminding us of the importance of conservation efforts. Venturing into Saja's Beech forest in Spain, we witness an elegant Fire salamander navigating through towering beech trees. Its sleek body glides effortlessly across the forest floor as it searches for prey or seeks shelter from predators. Male Morske Oko Reserve presents us with more captivating scenes – an European Salamander perched on a tree trunk beside a flowing river and then posing for an up-close portrait. The intricate details on its skin are truly awe-inspiring. In November at Hallerbos once again, our attention is drawn to an intimate close-up portrait of another Fire Salamander. Every scale seems meticulously crafted by nature itself -a testament to its beauty and resilience even during colder months. As autumn leaves blanket the forest floor elsewhere, yet another European/Fire Salamander emerges from beneath them within Male Morske Oko Reserve.
