Longhorn beetles, with their distinctive long antennae and vibrant colors, are a fascinating group of insects found in various parts of the world. From the Doana National & Natural Park in Huelva Province to the Ignoussa Mountains near Lake Kerkini, these beetles can be spotted on wood or leaves, showcasing their unique beauty. One such species is the Agapanthia ? sp, captured gracefully perched on a piece of wood in Doana National & Natural Park. Its intricate patterns and delicate features make it a true marvel of nature. These illustrations serve as reminders of how these creatures have captivated humans for centuries with their striking appearance and intriguing behavior. Alongside them is an enchanting depiction of a Water Spider from the same period. Moving forward to more recent times, we encounter other captivating longhorn beetle species like Dorcadion equestre nogelli found near Lake Kerkini and Agapanthia villosoviridescens discovered in Digne les Bains, France. The male Stenocorus sp photographed at Queyras Natural Park showcases yet another stunning example from this diverse family. In Djerdap National Park and Liechtenstein respectively, Tanner/Sawyer beetles (Prionus coriarius) steal the show as they silhouette against branches at dusk or rest peacefully on oak branches during daylight hours. Their presence adds an air of mystery and intrigue to these natural landscapes. Whether you come across one while exploring national parks or stumble upon ancient engravings depicting them in all their glory—longhorn beetles never fail to leave us awestruck by their elegance and splendor.
