LCC-LFB Dockhead fire station, Bermondsey

Built by the London County Council (LCC) and opened in 1928, Dockhead fire station replaced two older Bermondsey fire stations that were closed down.. Located in Wolseley Street, SE London, it was the setting for the highly popular television series London's Burning where Dockhead fronted the fictional fire station Blackwall

LCC-LFB Bishopsgate fire station, City of London

Bishopsgate fire station, located at 162 Bishopsgate, City of London, 10 July 1904, showing the combination of horse drawn and mechanised fire engines. The horseless engine is a self-propelled fire engine called the Fire-King with a top speed of 25 miles per hour and weight of 5.5 tons. The station finally closed in 1964 with the opening of the new Barbican fire station

Mitsubishi A6M Zero aircraft, World War 2 C016/3818

Mitsubishi A6M2 (Zero). US Air Force photograph of a test flight of a captured Japanese Mitsubishi A6M2 (Zero). This aircraft was being refined and improved by the Japanese during the final days of World War II (1939-1945). They increased the low octane rating of their gasoline by adding ethanol to the fuel. The Mitsubishi Zero was already a feared fighter aircraft, and this higher octane fuel helped to improve engine performance
