This vintage photograph captures the legendary figure of Roy Swinbourne in action for Wolverhampton Wanderers during the 1940s and 1960s. Swinbourne, born in Wolverhampton in 1924, is considered one of the greatest players in the history of the club. He made his debut for Wolves in 1946, following his service in the British Army during World War II. Swinbourne's skill and determination quickly made him a fan favorite, and he went on to make over 400 appearances for the team, scoring an impressive 125 goals. The image shows Swinbourne in his prime, with the ball at his feet and a determined look in his eyes. He is surrounded by teammates and opponents, all vying for position in this intense and hard-fought match.
