Critics were convinced that the bridge would fall because of the breadth and flatness of the arches, 128 ft (39m) wide with a rise of 24ft 3in (7.39m) to the crown, but they were proved wrong. Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame.
