Phoenix from Bertuch's, Bilderbuch fur Kinder, 1806. The phoenix was a mythical sacred firebird that can be found in the mythologies of the Persians, Greeks, Romans, Egyptians, Chinese, and Phoenicians. A phoenix was a fire spirit with a colorful plumage and a tail of gold and scarlet (or purple, blue, and green according to some legends). Only one phoenix existed at any time. It had a 500 to 1000 year lifecycle, near the end of which it would build itself a nest of twigs, set it on fire, and be consumed in the flames. From the ashes a new, young phoenix or phoenix egg arose, reborn anew to live again. The new phoenix was destined to live as long as its old self. © New York Public Library / Science Source

Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame.
