Framed Print of Onion root mitosis under a microscope

Light micrograph of an onion (Allium cepa) root tip, showing different phases of mitosis. Active cell nucleuses can be seen. In the middle, chromosomes are in the anaphase, when the chromatids pull apart. To the left of it are disentangled chromosomes in prophase. The surrounding cell nucleuses are mainly in the incipient division stage, the interphase. Magnification: 630x. © Eye of Science / Science Source
