Framed Print of Yak-3 WW2 Soviet fighter C016 / 2698

Yakovlev Yak-3 in flight. The Yak-3 was a single seat, single engined fighter aircraft used by the Soviet Air Force during World War 2. Powered by a Klimov VK-105 piston engine of 970kW (1300hp), the tiny aircraft could reach 655 km/h (407mph) and was armed with two 12.7mm machine guns and a 20mm cannon. The lightweight aircraft had a high power-to-weight ratio and proved highly manoeuvrable and an excellent dogfighter. The prototype flew in 1941 and the Yak-3 entered service in 1944. 4848 examples were built, also serving with the Polish and Yugoslav Air Forces after the war.
