Cyclops. In Homers Odyssey, the Cyclopes (pl.) were a colony of man-eating giants who lived in the mountains of Sicily. Odysseus, the hero of Odyssey, and his men landed on the island and sought shelter in the cave of the Cyclops Polyphemus. Polyphemus trapped the men in the cave and began to eat them. Odysseus got the Cyclops drunk, blinded him and escaped with his remaining men. The myth of the Cyclops probably originated from extinct dwarf elephant bones and skulls found on Sicily. The single large opening for the trunk in an elephant skull may have been mistaken as the eye socket of a giant. Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame.
