Framed Print of British BE2a fighter plane, World War I C014 / 2041
British BE2a fighter plane. The BE2 was a Bleriot Experimental biplane model produced by the Royal Aircraft Factory (later the Royal Aircraft Establishment). Around 3500 of these aircraft were built for the Royal Flying Corps from 1912 and during the First World War (1914-1918). A relatively primitive two-seater aircraft, carrying a pilot and a gunner, it was replaced by later designs as the war progressed. This BE2a (an early version) has been captured by the Germans. The non-roundel markings indicate it dates from 1914 or 1915. This photograph is from the Bain News Service, one of the USAs earliest news picture libraries. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame.
