Pereyaslawzewa Sophie (1851-1903)

Russian woman biologist. She received a Doctorate of Science from the University of Zurich. She held the position of Director of the Biological Station at Sebastopol for 10 years from 1878 to 1888 and was its Chief Zoologist for the next two years. She then carried out research into marine life in the Gulf of Naples and the coasts of France. She published her research on the lower forms of marine life in Russian, German and French.Most notable of her publications was her illustrated " Monographic de Turbellaries de la Mer Noire" published in Odessa in 1892
