Framed Print : Louis Pasteur, French microbiologist
Framed Photos from Science Photo Library
Louis Pasteur, French microbiologist
Louis Pasteur (1822-1895), French microbiologist and chemist. Louis Pasteur proved the germ theory of disease, which holds that germs attack the body from the outside. This explained diseases such as anthrax and meant that he could develop the first vaccine for rabies. He also showed that organisms such as bacteria were responsible for souring wine and milk and they could be removed by boiling and then cooling the liquid. This process is now known as pasteurisation

His remarkable achievements included developing the first vaccine for rabies, saving countless lives from this deadly virus. Moreover, Pasteur's investigations demonstrated that bacteria were responsible for souring wine and milk. He introduced a process known as pasteurization - boiling and cooling liquids to eliminate these harmful organisms. In this sepia-toned portrait, we see a distinguished man with wisdom etched on his face. His contributions to science have left an indelible mark on history. As a chemist and pathologist, Pasteur's work paved the way for modern microbiology and pathology. This print not only commemorates an extraordinary individual but also symbolizes humanity's relentless pursuit of knowledge and progress in combating diseases. It serves as a reminder of how far we have come thanks to pioneers like Louis Pasteur who dedicated their lives to unraveling nature's mysteries for the betterment of society.
