Framed Prints From Science Photo Library
Framed Print of Faradays spherical condenser
Spherical condenser. This device was used by British scientist Michael Faraday (1791-1867) to show that electricity can be considered a force. In the 1830s electricity was considered to be a weightless fluid. In this condenser, Faraday was able to pass a current between cup and ball, even though they were separated by gas, liquids or solids. This object is preserved at the Royal Institution, London.
