Framed Print of Dunkleosteus sp. prehistoric fish
Dunkleosteus sp. fish in the sea in the Devonian period (408-360 million years ago), computer artwork. This large predatory fish had jaws but not true teeth, instead having plates of sharp bone. It is thought that Dunkleosteus sp. fish fed on other fish, sharks and other marine life. It was a placoderm fish, and had a heavily-armoured head and a scaleless body. Some species of Dunkleosteus are thought to have reached lengths approaching ten metres. This model is from the Devonian Sea Simulator, an interactive virtual reality model of Devonian marine life.
