Framed Print of Telegraph printer, 1889 C013 / 8777
Telegraph printer. 19th-century artwork of a telegraph printer developed by Moore and Wright in the 1880s. The electric telegraph had been developed in the 1830s and 1840s, but previously had been printed on narrow strips of paper. This invention allowed columnar printing on sheets or rolls of paper, as seen here. This was known as a column-printing telegraph. In 1890, Moore and Wrights patent was sold for GBP 30, 000. Artwork from the 4th volume (second period of 1889) of the French popular science weekly La Science Illustree. Science Photo Library features Science and Medical images including photos and illustrations. © SCIENCE PHOTO LIBRARY
