Framed Print of A photo of Kiel harbour taken two weeks after a successful raid

A photo of Kiel harbour taken two weeks after a successful raid. The Scharnhorst is still in the floating dock and the Lutzow in dry dock, the damage to her stern being very apparent.
It is interesting to note that the Graf zeppelin, as well as one submarine, one destroyer and one tanker have departed, and that the Hipper-class cruiser has swung on her moorings.
More interesting still has been the flying of a balloon barrage. With the aid of a stereoscope, fourteen balloons can be seen sited round the main dockyards of the port, extending from the Naval Arsenal to the end of the commercial port. Circa July 1940. © Mirrorpix
