Framed Print of The Flying Scotsman arrives in Liverpool, England from San Francisco

The Flying Scotsman arrives in Liverpool, England from San Francisco.
Preserved LNER Gresley pacific 4472 Flying Scotsman at Liverpool Docks on a bright freezing snowy day in February 1973. It arrived on board the MV California Star, from San Francisco.
The Flying Scotsman then headed for BR Derby for overhaul. It returned to passenger-hauling service in July 1973 on the Torbay Steam Railway, and returned to hauling special excursions over BR mainline tracks in September of that year.
The Flying Scotsman, designed by Sir Herbert Nigel Gresley, is an express passenger train service that has operated between Edinburgh and London, the capitals of Scotland and England, via the East Coast Main Line. The service began in 1862; the name was officially adopted in 1924.
On 1st May 1928 The A1 class locomotive 4472 Flying Scotsman hauled the inaugural non-stop train from London Kings Cross to Edinburgh. 392 miles (631 km) without stopping, a record at the time for a scheduled service.
