A new £ 9, 000 inshore lifeboat was commissioned at Horton on Gower at the weekend just in time for what promises to be a busy summer season.
Built by Avon Inflatables, of Llanelli, the new D Class vessel which will serve both Horton and Port Eynon was paid for by the RNLI.
The charity organisation arranged a concert at St DavidOs Hall, Cardiff, last March and the proceeds went towards funding the new lifeboat.
The Horton and Port Eynon inshore lifeboat station began in 1968 and the boat annually makes around 20 launches.

A New Inshore Lifeboat Commissioned at Horton on Gower
EDITORS COMMENTS
. In a momentous event over the weekend, a brand new £9,000 inshore lifeboat was commissioned at Horton on Gower just in time for what promises to be a busy summer season. The impressive vessel, built by Avon Inflatables of Llanelli, will serve both Horton and Port Eynon and has been fully funded by the RNLI. The charitable organization made this possible through their efforts last March when they organized a concert at St David's Hall in Cardiff. The proceeds from the event were dedicated towards funding this much-needed addition to our coastal rescue fleet. Established back in 1968, the Horton and Port Eynon inshore lifeboat station has been diligently serving our community for over two decades. Annually making approximately 20 launches, these brave individuals have saved countless lives along our treacherous coastline. Captured within this print is Mr. P. Bradley, deputy divisional Inspector of Lifeboats congratulating Mr. Bob Chatterton, chairman of Horton RNLI on their remarkable achievement - the acquisition of this state-of-the-art life-saving vessel. This image serves as a reminder not only of the dedication and commitment displayed by these selfless volunteers but also highlights the vital role that charities like RNLI play in ensuring our safety during times of distress at sea.
