EDITORS COMMENTS
In this print from Memory Lane Prints, we are transported back to the vibrant summer of 1982, where British Steel Gala Queen Linda Coxhall stands proudly at the center. Flanked by her loyal companions Debbie Crosby and Julie Watson on either side, their radiant smiles reflect the joyous atmosphere of this momentous occasion. The image captures a significant event in British history - the renowned British Steel Gala. Organized by the prestigious British Steel Corporation (BSC), this grand celebration showcased the strength and resilience of Teesside's steel industry during that era. The crown adorning Linda's head symbolizes her regal role as she represents not only beauty but also embodies the hardworking spirit of those employed in this vital sector. Posed against a backdrop reminiscent of Teesside's industrial landscape, Linda, Debbie, and Julie exude grace and elegance amidst an environment typically associated with raw power. This juxtaposition beautifully encapsulates both sides of Teesside's identity - its seasons industry thriving alongside its picturesque summers. As we admire this snapshot frozen in time, let us appreciate not just these remarkable women but also acknowledge all those who contributed to shaping Britain's steel legacy. This photograph serves as a testament to their dedication and commitment towards building a prosperous nation.
