EDITORS COMMENTS
In this photo print, we witness a remarkable milestone achieved by the hardworking employees of ICI at the Wilton complex. Two million working hours without any accidents resulting in lost time is an extraordinary feat that deserves recognition and celebration. To honor their exceptional dedication to safety, ICI has generously granted its staff with a substantial sum of £12,000. This financial contribution will be directed towards local charities within Cleveland, allowing the employees themselves to choose which causes they wish to support. The significance of this gesture extends far beyond monetary value; it symbolizes a deep sense of community and compassion fostered within ICI's workforce. It exemplifies how corporate success can be intertwined with social responsibility. ICI, short for Imperial Chemical Industries, has long been known as a prominent player in the British chemical industry during the 20th century. Their commitment to health and safety standards sets them apart as leaders in industrial manufacturing. This heartwarming photograph captures not only the proud moment when two million accident-free working hours were achieved but also showcases the unity and benevolence among ICI's dedicated staff members on Teesside's North Yorkshire coast. As we delve into this snapshot from April 12th, 1990 - part of Mirrorpix's Memory Lane Prints collection - let us appreciate both the immense achievement accomplished by these individuals and their subsequent efforts to uplift local communities through charitable endeavors.
