Pippin, the movie star mongrel discovered by the Mirror
Pippin, the movie star mongrel discovered by the Mirror, had two " Oscars" to pack in her suitcase yesterday after a glittering triumph in Cannes. She picked up two coveted Grand Pix awards in the advertising industrys top competition beating a 3, 642-strong world field which included Maureen Lipmans hit Telecom ads. Seven-year-old Pippins prize-winning films, spotlighting the dangers of kids watching too much telly were made in Britain for Spanish TV. She was a pup on Hollywood when her owner, Ann Head, helped us to expose animal cruelty. And we helped launch Pippins British career when animal trainer Ann and her family returned home with her. " We ve never looked back since." beamed Ann, of Crowthorne, Berks. " I ve always said that Pippin is the Mirror dog." June 1989 P006492

EDITORS COMMENTS
Pippin, the movie star mongrel discovered by the Mirror, had a triumphant day in Cannes as she packed her suitcase with not one but two 'Oscars'. This adorable seven-year-old pup stole the show at the advertising industry's top competition, beating out an impressive 3,642 entries from around the world. Even Maureen Lipman's hit Telecom ads couldn't compete with Pippin's charm. The prize-winning films that brought Pippin this well-deserved recognition were made right here in Britain for Spanish TV. They shed light on the dangers of children spending too much time glued to their television screens. Pippin's owner, Ann Head, played a crucial role in exposing animal cruelty alongside us at The Mirror. When Ann and her family returned home after their Hollywood adventure, we proudly helped launch Pippin's British career. Since then, there has been no looking back for our beloved canine superstar. Ann beams with pride when she declares that Pippin is truly 'the Mirror dog'. With her irresistible cuteness and unique sense of humor, it's no wonder why audiences are captivated by this unusual talent. This print captures a momentous chapter in Pippin's journey to stardom – June 1989 was indeed a month to remember! As we look back fondly on these memories from Memory Lane Prints, let us celebrate this remarkable dog who continues to bring joy and laughter wherever she goes.
