Framed Prints From Memory Lane

Framed Print of The largest self-righting lifeboat to be built for the Royal National Lifeboat

The largest self-righting lifeboat to be built for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, was tested at Portsmouth today. It was the 48ft. 27-ton, The Earl and Countess of Howe, a new Lifeboat for Great Yarmouth.
The boat was turned completely over by means of straps attached to a dockyard crane, but righted Itself immediately.
Roped to a bench inside the watertight cabin of the lifeboat was Mr. Richard Oakley, a surveyor on the staff of the RNLI. He emerged after the capsizing with no ill-effects.
Picture shows: Mr Oakley being roped to a bench in the cabin.
