Wood effect frame, card mounted, 16x12 archival quality photo print. Overall outside dimensions 22x18 inches (58x48cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: To minimise original artwork cropping, for optimum layout, and to ensure print is secure, the visible print may be marginally smaller

This exquisite handcolored copperplate stipple engraving, taken from Frederic Cuvier's Dictionary of Natural Science: Mammals, published in Paris, France, in 1816, showcases three intriguing mammalian species: the Tufted Capuchin monkey (Sapajus apella), Senegal Bushbaby (Galago senegalensis), and the Spectral Tarsier (Tarsius tarsier). The illustration was produced under the artistic direction of Pierre Jean-Francois Turpin, with the engraving executed by Massard. The painter of natural history responsible for this masterpiece was Jean Gabriel Pretre, who later became an artist to the Museum of Natural History. The Tufted Capuchin monkey, native to Central and South America, is depicted in the center of the image, its expressive face and bushy tail evident. To its left, the Senegal Bushbaby, native to Africa, is shown in a dynamic pose, clinging to a tree branch with its prehensile tail and gazing intently at the viewer. The Spectral Tarsier, native to Southeast Asia, is depicted on the right, its large eyes and elongated limbs making it appear almost ethereal.
