Framed Print of Suffragette Deputation June 1909 Programme

A souvenir and programme announcing the Deputation to the Prime Minister, Asquith, at the House of Commons on Tuesday June 29th, 1909, at 8 p.m. Portraits of leading figures, including the Pankhursts, Mrs. Pethick-Lawrence, Flora Drummond, the Kenney sisters and many others, together with a border of purple violets decorate the paper. Mentions Marion Wallace-Dunlops marking the stonework of St. Stephens Hall, Westminster, with a passage from the 1689 Bill of Rights, and how it took two men over two hours to remove the violet stains with pumice stone, soap and water. Mrs Pankhurst would be arrested at the Deputation. Date: 1909.
