EDITORS COMMENTS
This photograph captures the historic Britannia Public House, located in the vibrant and culturally rich area of Hackney, London. The image presents the corner view of the pub, with its distinctive red brick facade adorned with ornate detailing and the iconic "Britannia" sign proudly displayed. The pub, a beloved local watering hole, was once a significant part of the community, serving as a gathering place for residents and visitors alike. The Britannia Public House was a proud addition to the Hackney landscape, having been established in the late 19th century by the Charrington and Company Limited. The pub was a testament to the rich history of London's pub culture and the brewing industry. However, as of July 2018, the site of the Britannia Public House now serves a different purpose. It is now the home of Sebrook Primary School, a testament to the ever-evolving nature of urban landscapes. This photograph is a precious reminder of the past, offering a glimpse into the history of Hackney and its pub culture. The Britannia Public House may no longer stand, but its legacy lives on through images like this one. This print, produced by The National Brewery Heritage Trust, is a must-have for anyone with an appreciation for London's history, pub culture, or urban landscapes. Whether framed and displayed in a home or office, or kept as a cherished memento, this print is a beautiful addition to any collection.
