Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). Jose de Ribera, also known as 'El Gran Granadino,' was a prominent Spanish Baroque painter born in Granada in 1588. His artistic career spanned over six decades, from the late 16th to the mid-17th century, leaving an indelible mark on the European art scene. Ribera's mastery of chiaroscuro, or the interplay of light and shadow, set him apart from his contemporaries. He is best known for his dramatic and intense depictions of religious and mythological themes, often featuring figures in extreme contrasts of light and dark. This technique not only added depth and texture to his paintings but also heightened the emotional impact on the viewer. One of Ribera's most famous works, 'The Three Graces,' showcases his exceptional skill in capturing the human form and the interplay of light and shadow. The painting depicts three mythological figures, Aglaea, Euphrosyne, and Thalia, who represent beauty, joy, and merriment. The figures are bathed in soft, ethereal light, in stark contrast to the dark background, creating a sense of otherworldliness and mystery. Ribera's works were influential not only in Spain but also throughout Europe.
