Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 archival quality photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (38x32cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). This print showcases the young and talented Gustave Doré, a renowned French artist and engraver, in the year 1833. Doré's expressive face, adorned with a full moustache, reveals the intensity and passion that fueled his artistic pursuits. At the time this image was captured, Doré was already making a name for himself in the art world, having begun his career as an engraver at the age of 15. Born in Strasbourg, Doré's artistic abilities were apparent from an early age. He was largely self-taught, but his talent did not go unnoticed. In 1827, he was admitted to the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where he honed his skills under the tutelage of renowned artists. Doré's work spanned various genres, including illustrations for books, religious and mythological scenes, and even caricatures. His most famous works include the illustrations for Dante's Divine Comedy and the engravings for Victor Hugo's Les Misérables. Doré's unique style, characterized by intricate details and dramatic contrasts, set him apart from his contemporaries. This print, titled "Figaro Albu," is a testament to Doré's skill as an engraver. The image depicts the character Figaro from Mozart's opera, The Marriage of Figaro.
