Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. This 17th century print depicts the renowned French artist Eustache Le Sueur (1616-1655). Born in Tours, Le Sueur was a significant figure in the French Baroque art scene, known for his dynamic and expressive style. He studied under the influential painter Georges Lallemant and later became a member of the prestigious Académie Royale de Peinture et de Sculpture in Paris. Le Sueur's oeuvre spanned various genres, including history painting, portraiture, and religious art. His works were characterized by their dramatic use of light and shadow, as well as their vivid and emotional intensity. One of his most famous paintings is "The Martyrdom of Saint Bartholomew," which is now housed in the Louvre Museum. This print, created in the late 17th century, captures the artist in the prime of his career. Le Sueur is depicted in a three-quarter view, wearing a simple black doublet and a white collar. His gaze is focused intently on the canvas before him, a palette and brushes in hand.
